What We Built
Construction transformed the former mill property into a vibrant mixed-use destination, including:
- Restoration and refurbishment of three historic buildings
- Structural reinforcement of existing buildings and vertical elements
- Preservation and reuse of original historic materials where possible
- Restaurant, brewery and food hall spaces
- Shared common areas for gathering and dining
- Expansive outdoor green space with seating
- Outdoor entertainment area with large video screen
- Site improvements to support pedestrian access, gathering and community use
Project Overview
After acquiring the former Ellison Flour Mill property, the owner set out to repurpose the historic buildings and surrounding exterior space into a landmark restaurant and entertainment destination for downtown Fountain Inn.
P+F Construction was engaged early in the planning process, helping develop a thoughtful scope and budget that aligned with the Owner’s vision and the complexities of restoring a historic property. After nearly two years of planning, P+F broke ground in February 2023, working alongside Project Plus to refurbish three historic buildings totaling 13,000 square feet on the site of the former Ellison Flour Mill.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the property required careful planning, sequencing and preservation-minded construction practices. P+F restored, preserved and repurposed much of the original material while reinforcing the structural integrity of the existing buildings before new work could begin.
Today, The Mill at Fountain Inn includes Fountain Inn Brewing, a food hall, common gathering areas and expansive outdoor green space with additional seating and a large video screen for community events and entertainment.
