The Mill at Fountain Inn Honored with Statewide Historic Preservation Award

June 2025

P+F Construction recognized for craftsmanship and collaboration in the revitalization of a beloved Upstate landmark

P+F Construction is proud to share that The Mill at Fountain Inn—the historic redevelopment of the former Ellison Flour Mill—has been recognized with a 2025 South Carolina Historic Preservation Honor Award.

Presented by Governor Henry McMaster in partnership with Preservation South Carolina and the South Carolina Department of Archives and History, the annual awards celebrate exceptional achievements in preserving and revitalizing the state’s architectural and cultural heritage. This marks the first-ever Fountain Inn project to receive this prestigious recognition.

Breathing New Life into a Local Landmark

Originally built in 1940, the Ellison Flour Mill once stood as a cornerstone of Fountain Inn’s industrial economy. Decades later, the site had fallen into disrepair—until a shared vision brought it back to life.

Working alongside Innovative Hospitality & Development, Project Plus Architects, and Rogers Lewis Group, the P+F Construction team helped transform the long-abandoned property into a vibrant mixed-use destination now known as The Mill at Fountain Inn. The project preserved the historic configuration and character of the original mill structures while introducing new uses that serve the community today.

A Community Reimagined

The Mill now features a brewery, food hall, event venue, and outdoor greenspace complete with a large screen and gathering areas—all designed to bring people together. What once was an industrial relic has become a thriving centerpiece of Fountain Inn’s redevelopment and a model for preservation-based community revitalization.

“This project represents everything we believe in—collaboration, craftsmanship, and creating places that bring people together,” said Steve Foushee, co-founder of P+F Construction. “It’s an honor to see The Mill recognized for what it truly is: a story of restoration, partnership, and pride in our hometown.”

Celebrating Collaboration and Craftsmanship

P+F extends its congratulations to the entire award-winning project team:

  • Bryan Beal, B & B Real Estate Company / Innovative Hospitality & Development
  • Aaron Peter, Project Plus Architects
  • Steve Foushee, Will Prescott and Lou Bouvia, P+F Construction
  • Janie Campbell, Rogers Lewis Group

The Mill at Fountain Inn stands as a powerful example of what’s possible when history and progress meet—a place where the past is preserved, and the community’s future continues to grow.
